| #1 | Help! I have an 06 Land Rover LR3, 25K miles, and it's surging on the freeway. Can't drive back to home base NAS Oceana until proven reliable. LR dealer implemented P12 recall 2 mos ago (something about software for the engine control module). LR Dealer also just fixed rear differential issue and a slow acceleration/high RPM problem from stop light pickups, said it was a brake light problem and that the circuits for brake lights run thru gearshaft.
Now it's surging. When going 70mph, let it slow down by itself, hits 60 mph and starts noticeably surging back and forth through 50 mph. Can feel it in the seat, floorboard, and steering wheel.
Fuel pump issue? Transmission? Belts/hoses? Taking it back to LR Dealer next week, all ideas welcome and much appreciated, THANKS! --Tammy, Luke AFB |

| #2 | There are several things that can cause engine surging issues.
First, fuel issues. This could be poor fuel quality or a lack of fuel pressure to the engine.
Transmission issues can also cause a surging feeling at certain speeds, but usually you have more problems than just surging when you are having a transmission issue.
Anything to do with the engines computer control system can cause this type of problem, it could be something as simple as a bad sensor making the engine surge.
All of these issues will need to be checked by a Land Rover dealer, they will have the proper equipment to check this problem as long as they can make it happen.
I would take them on a test drive and show them the problem, this will help them narrow down the fault.
Good luck
